Antioxidants in our food

Antioxidants work to fight the effects of free radicals and are found in certain foods in varying amounts.

It is these ‘skin foods’ which will aid in the slowing of the aging process and the maintenance of a clear, beautiful skin. These include Vitamins A, C and E and minerals copper, zinc and selenium. Phytochemicals derived from plants and zoochemicals sourced from animal products are also believed to a have a more powerful antioxidant effect than vitamins or minerals.

These are named the non-nutrient antioxidants and include phytochemicals such as lycopenes in tomatoes and anthocyanins present in cranberries.
