3 step-by-step facials

1. Quick allergy fix

Keywords Allergic reaction, calming, soothing

Time 1-5 minutes

What you’ll need 1-2 small face towels

Instructions

1. Apply a cold compress to calm/soothe your skin.

2. Soak the towel in cold water and wring it out.

3. Press into your face (leave a small space to breathe)

4. Hold it there for 10 seconds.

5. Repeat four times, always refreshing the towel (Step 2)

6. If this helps, use as often as you need

7. Do not put anything on your skin. Leave it naked until the reaction disappears.

8. Try and identify which ingredient/s you have reacted to.

Tips
  • Aloe vera. This plant has healing properties. If you or a friend has an aloe vera plant, take 1-2 leaves off, take the flesh from inside the leaf and blend it in a blender. This will make pure aloe vera juice. Apply this to your face. If it feels fine, apply as often as you want. Aloe vera gels and creams are processed and have preservatives: use only pure juice from the plant.
  • Drink plenty of water - 2 litres daily at least, to flush out your system.
  • You might only have time to do a 1-minute compress, but longer is better.
2. 15-minute refresh

Keywords Mini spa, tired, dull skin, morning spa

Time 15 minutes

What you’ll need
cleanser/gel/organic face soap
exfoliant
moisturiser
make-up products
hair band
2 small face towels or wash cloth

Instructions

1. Put the hair band on.

2. With warm, wet hands massage in the cleanser for 30 seconds. Use circular movements. Start in the centre, then up, outwards, down & back to the centre.

3. Wash it off. If you were wearing make-up, repeat step 2.

4. Wet the skin with warm water, apply exfoliant, massage as in step 2, for 3 minutes.

5. Wash it off thoroughly with face cloth.

6. To soften the skin, wet the towel in warm water and press it into your face (leave small space for breathing). Leave it on your face for 10 seconds. Repeat this times, refreshing the towel with water each time.

7. Massage in moisturizer as in step 2.

8. Apply make-up.

Tips
  • Have a morning spa, and set it all up the night before. When you get up, you just do the spa and go.
  • While you do this drink 1 litre of water (drink another litre later). You’ll hydrate your organs & skin, flush out all the toxins, and feel much better.
  • Sometimes when we’re tired, make-up can emphasise this. Use colour sparingly.
  • Take a 15-minute powernap. Even 5 minutes is enough for some people. Listen to your body clock
3. 30-minute sunburn treatment

Keywords Hot face, soothe, calm, cool

Time 30 minutes

What you’ll need
fresh aloe vera leaf
organic ingredients e.g. oats, cream, coconut, avocado, rosehip oil, honey
hair band
2 small face towels or wash cloth
bed sheet
fresh sock or fabric bag & string or hair tie

Instructions

1. Take a cold bath or shower or wet the bed sheet in cold water and wrap it around your body.

2. Put on hair band.

3. To cool the skin: Wet the towel with cold water. Press it into your face (leave small space to breathe). Hold it for 10 seconds. Repeat 4 times, always refreshing the towel. Do this as often as you like. Repeat as often as you want.

Tips
  • Place oats in fresh sock or bag, tie it tightly and place it in bath water. In shower, use it to wash yourself.
  • Pour a little dairy cream into your bath.
  • Put dairy cream & honey in the bath, or use it to wash yourself in the shower.
  • After bath/shower: apply aloe vera juice, a healing remedy. Peel 1-2 aloe vera leaves, and blend the ‘flesh’ in a blender. Apply often to the skin, leave on. Avoid processed/commercial aloe vera products.
  • Sunburn is dehydrating, so drink lots of water - at least 2 litres a day. If you’re drinking lots of water, have a healthy salty snack or sea salt to put minerals back, as they may be flushed out, and you will feel very tired.
NEVER wash sunburnt skin with hot or warm water. Use only cold water.
