Prepare your skin for injectible fillers
It’s a big decision to get your skin treated by a cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist – for example, botox injections, collagen, hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Perlane), Newfill and other injectible fillers and treatments.
But once you’ve decided, you can get even greater benefits by getting a fruit-peel treatment beforehand. This treatment with AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) stimulates and stabilizes the skin, making the injections or implants last longer.
Only dermatologists, surgeons or professionally trained beauticians should apply the treatment, and good communication is essential.
- Plan for your AHA treatments at least four weeks before the fillers/implants
- Your treatment will be with high-level AHAs
- Continue each night with your own routine of lower level AHAs (5%)
- Sun makes the skin ‘thicker’, and AHAs remove the top layer of skin. If you use AHAs, your skin becomes sun-sensitive. You have to use sun protection at all times, to protect your skin from hyper-pigmentation (dark areas).
