Facts about shaving
Does hair growth increase when we shave?
No! You don’t create more hairs by shaving. But:
- the hair grows faster
- the hair structure changes – usually becoming stronger. A man’s beard can become coarser from shaving every day.
- shaving does stimulate the hair to grow
- shaving cannot create new hair follicles view the picture here
If you stop shaving, you may notice that the growth slows down, and the hairs are finer.

Shaving rash?
My a friend told me that his skin was itchy and very red a couple of hours after he shaved. My first thought was that he had an allergy to the certified organic after-shave balm I pushed him to use – damn! But no, he said he gets it after shaving with an electric razor – which he does about once a month.
He thinks it’s the way the hair gets pulled from the skin. I asked him what he did to calm his skin down. Of course – nothing. But after couple of hours it was gone.
If you have this kind of red, itchy reaction, press a cool towel onto your face a few times. It will calm the skin. Watch related video ‘Allergic reaction red, itchy, swollen skin’
Check ingredients in the product you use after shaving as it may irritate your skin.
AND boys, clean your razors
