Facts about shaving
Does hair growth increase when we shave?
No! You don’t create more hairs by shaving. But:
- the hair grows faster
- the hair structure changes – usually becoming stronger. A man’s beard can become coarser from shaving every day.
- shaving does stimulate the hair to grow
- shaving cannot create new hair follicles view the picture here
If you stop shaving, you may notice that the growth slows down, and the hairs are finer.

Don’t wear jewellery for electrolysis
I had a client who came for electrolysis (hair removal) on her face. She had a whole jewelry shop on her body, and didn’t want to take it off.
If you have any electric treatment, you can’t wear anything metal. You need to tell the practitioner if you have a pacemaker or sometimes even metal fillings (these days most dentists use ceramic).
Electronic or electric equipment can cause serious problems, including damage to a pacemaker.
Now I know a bit about physics (I passed my exams for a reason
). Here’s what can happen, for example with metal fillings and electric/electronic equipment:
- Your mouth is wet
- The metal filling in your tooth is wet
- Metal is highly conductive and attracts electricity
- Electricity looks for the easiest way to travel and connects with the metal, to make a circuit
- The metal filling lets the electric current through. In theory, it could burn you, or cause sparks.
But don’t worry, the equipment will indicate if something is wrong. A good beautician will take care of you.
